| Who couldn't use a $100.00 Home Depot Card? |
Entering to win is simple. When applying for a Dig Safe permit, just provide us with the two cross streets that are located on both sides of your dig location.
Each month from April to October, two callers who give this information will be randomly chosen to win a $100.00 Home Depot Card.
Why do we ask for two cross streets?
Our goal is to filter out unnecessary notifications to member companies who don’t have underground facilities where you plan to dig. We want notify only those who need to respond and mark out.
Providing the two cross streets allows our system to alert only the companies who have underground lines in that segment of the road, rather than the entire length of the road.
How do I get this information?
When you first arrive to premark a new job, make note of the two streets on either side of your planned excavation. Or, use any free online map program to enter the location of your dig site and zoom in to find the two cross streets.
Why should I bother?
Managing your projects will be easier. With fewer companies notified, it won’t be necessary to check for the response of companies who don’t have anything in the area to mark out.
And, our improved screening system may save a trip for the utility locators.
A win/win for everyone. Actually, a win/win/win if we draw your name for the prize.

What
is Dig Safe ®? State
laws require anyone who digs to notify utility companies before
starting, and for good reason. Digging can be dangerous and
costly without knowing where underground facilities are located.
Dig Safe
System, Inc. is a communication network, assisting excavators,
contractors and property owners in complying with state law
by notifying the appropriate utilities before digging. Dig Safe®,
a free service, notifies member companies of proposed excavation
projects. In turn, these member utilities respond to the work
area and identify the location of underground facilities. Callers
are given a permit number as confirmation.
Member utilities,
or contracted private locators, use paint, stakes or flags to
identify the location of buried facilities. Color coding is
used to identify the type of underground facilities:

Dig Safe
is a not-for profit corporation, funded entirely by member utility
companies, to promote public safety, protect vital utility services
and safeguard against property and environmental damage.
Dig Safe
processes all locate requests Monday through Friday from 6 a.m.
to 6 p.m., not including holidays (see Observed Holiday list
below). Off hour coverage is provided for emergency work only.
